Phase 5 – The new normal

Phase-5 will likely only occur after a vaccine has been developed and deployed. Only at this stage is it likely that governments will consider the situation under control. However, the industry is changed forever. This is our new normal, and we need to be prepared for it.

Phew, we made it! Now it’s time to return to our “happy place”, but this is not “business as usual”. Whilst the pandemic is behind us, 3-4 generations have been effected by this virus and, in many case, it has a detrimental impact on peoples’ health – both physical and mental.

Be in no doubt that the fitness and well-being industry has changed.

Prior to COVID-19, hybrid gyms (a fusion of online and in-person training) were already establishing themselves as the way ahead. Quoox identified this in early 2018, and this why we were the only CRM with ready in-built, multi-level, on-demand training.

Your members expect more than just a few training sessions a week, and your competitors will be equally aware of this. It is now about full 360° fitness and well-being services. Fortunately, your training expertise and care for your members, combined with the tools that Quoox provides, positions you perfectly as a facility of the future.

It is more important than ever to be seen as being the market leader in your area. The key is constant communication with your members and the broader community. And it is that word, “community”, that is the nucleus of your business going forward. People will associate the mutual support, fun, laughs, and results with your brand. They will become synonymous, and your member loyalty will be through-the-roof.

Assuming you positioned yourself ready for the bounce-back during phases 2, 3 and 4, now is the time to harvest the crops you have been nurturing and tending. Great care must be taken not to become complacent or neglectful, and you must build on the strong foundations you set.

Ideally you will now be using all of the tools that Quoox provides, and that are relevant to your fitness vertical. Because there are so many, it’s impractical to list them all. But here are some of the most important areas that you will want to have covered:

I think that there’s going to be this rise of a fusion or a hybrid style of business. I think that people have now experienced more virtual engagement. They like being more connected.

I think that a lot of the businesses that were not equipped to truly display that they cared that didn’t have a personality, they weren’t doing a good job connecting with their clientele and building a sense of community and making those clients feel valued and important. I think they’re going to struggle.

  • Take enormous care not to “step back” on your service. Ensure that you stay in regular contact with your members; check-in on their well-being; monitor their progress; and stay communicative and responsive.
  • Continue to make available on-demand video workouts. These are particularly useful for those who travel, or when people are on holiday – and there will be lots of people taking holidays now they’re allowed to again!
  • You have to be more than just somewhere people go 2-3 times a week for training.  You want to be a hub of your community. Use the numerous tools within Quoox, such as Buddies, Families and Social Share to help you.
  • Know everything about your members. Record as much relevant information as you can against your member profile, particularly information such as their injuries and medical status. All of this is shared with your coaches on-the-floor, via Roll-Call.
  • Ensure your members see their progress. Encourage them to link their Fitbit® and Myzone® devices to Quoox. Record and update their “personal bests”, so they can see these via the app.
  • Perform regular weigh-in’s.  If you use an InBody (or similar) analyser linked to Myzone, these stats become automatically visible in the portal and to your members.
  • Consider organising occasional social events. A monthly “wine-after-workout” event can really help build friendships, affirm the community, and build loyalty.
  • Be prolific! Don’t let up on your Campaigns and marketing, and be seen as a leader in your community.
  • Stay ahead of the game. Be aware of new trends in the industry. Keep yourself aware of new tools and innovations made available to you by Quoox, and use them if they benefit your business and/or members.
