Quoox is founded on the ethos of making a positive impact to people’s lives. No organisation could ever embody that same initiative more than The Battle Cancer Move Forward Programme. This project enables local gyms to deliver tailored classes for those affected by cancer, with the goal of supporting their mental well-being, nurturing them back to fitness and, ultimately, turn them into CrossFit coaches.
Quoox is proud to support Battle Cancer as its technology partner for the Move Forward programme, and to help promote their amazing work.
Through Battle Cancer you’re not alone…
This video tells the story of Craig McIvor and his fight with cancer.
Matt Damon, Chris and Liam Hemsworth, and Tia Clair-Toomey are just a few of the A-list celebrities supporting and championing the initiative.
The key message to the story is that, “through Battle Cancer, you are not alone”.
“ From the moment I saw Quoox features I was blown away with the incredible attention to detail. Every single aspect of offering a supported and in depth member journey is done by Quoox. The medical notes, nurturing system and Fitflix are multiple services all wrapped into one. The business management for running our first facility is out of this world. At Battle Cancer and Move Forward we are attempting to change how fitness spaces help some of the most vulnerable people post cancer treatment. The features of the system allow us to provide a truly revolutionary approach to returning people both to mental and physical strength. „

Support when it’s needed most
When people undergo or complete treatment for cancer they’re often left to return to “life as usual,” but for them, that no longer exists. Battle Cancer and Move Forward provide a support system and structure for them to take control of their own lives and adapt physically and mentally to take on the world around them. Sometimes, that is the only help they have to do so.
Survivors leading survivors
The Battle Cancer program puts cancer survivors in local gyms and provides them with a 10-week functional fitness course. At the end, one attendee is selected and sent to a seminar to receive their coaches certification. That coach then commits to teaching the next wave of survivors. Support from someone who’s walked a mile in their shoes.
The entire program kicks off with a 1-day session at a local gym, where Battle Cancer delivers a mental health toolkit, a free resource for fitness professionals to learn how to support those experiencing emotional/mental health issues, and how to effectively communicate and signpost those individuals to seek more help. Together, this support more of those those who need help.
Proven to change lives
The Battle Cancer Move Forward program is based on research from CLIC Sargent’s Move Forward initiative – a study examining the impact of a 10-week CrossFit program on the fitness and quality of life with teenage and young adult cancer survivors.
The study found that the experimental group saw an overwhelming improvement in physical, emotional, cognitive, and social functioning, as well as a reduction in fatigue, appetite loss, and financial difficulties.
The Battle Cancer Move Forward Program is a global initiative to create a network of educated health professionals to serve those during or post-cancer treatment. The program aims to also provide a free resource for fitness professionals to learn how to support those experiencing mental health issues and how to effectively communicate and signpost those individuals to seek more help.
With over 17 million people diagnosed with cancer each year, and those dying across the globe now hitting 9.6 million in 2018, there is a significant need to offer a service of mental and physical wellness to those affected.
